NARS' Andy Warhol collection

You may think Andy Warhol, however fabulous his famous factory was, had nothing to do with beauty. But you’d be wrong! The artist actually loved experimenting with wigs and heavy makeup to change his appearance. It’s only fitting that NARS, one of the most artistic and innovative cosmetics brands out there, dedicated an entire two-part collection to his game-changing persona. The line will be released in two sections, on October 1 and November 1, and each product has ingenious packaging, like a lip-emblazoned soup can full of Larger than Life lip glosses in cute shades like Silver Factory and Chelsea Girls.

Other favorites from the initial launch are the vivid cream nail lacquers in a rainbow of shades and the eye palettes—multi-hued shadows pressed into one of three Flowers prints or three Self Portrait designs, featuring an original Warhol quote on the mirror of the compact. (We love “I believe in low lights and trick mirrors,” off Self Portrait 1, and “If you can convince yourself that you look fabulous, you can save yourself the trouble of primping,” from Flowers 1.)

November 1 brings several makeup sets: the Silver Factory set items range from fluffy brushes and matte nude lipstick to electric-pink blush and aluminum shadow, all in a—what else—silver cosmetics bag. It’s also worth waiting for the latter delivery for the Photo Booth Gift Set of four different varnishes and the Edie Gift Set, full of Sedgwick-approved pinkish products inside a 16mm film canister.
