I’m a firm believer that if the eyes are the windows to the soul, as they say, then you’d best dress them up with some fun accoutrements! For as many catwalks that sported minimal, restrained makeup (always in), there were equal Fall 2012 runways that went balls to the wall with crazy-cool looks of creative lashes, appliqués and loads of eyeshadow. But my favorite eye trend may be all the innovative ways Fashion Week makeup minds used eyeliner.

From a super clean and modern triangle of a cat eye at Erdem to graphic and squared off at Aquascutum, the beauty brains behind the looks proved their imaginations to be the limit. Altazurra’s eyes were some of my absolute favorites; the double-line design seemed to take cues from tribal sketches. I don’t think I can quite recreate them at home, but if I was going to try, I’d use NYX’s new ergonomically sound liquid liner called The Curve. Also wearing double lines were models at Jen Kao, using Eyeko’s fab Skinny Liquid Eyeliner.

Further spicing things up, LAMB makeup artists put the liner in the crease for a sort of retro Sophia Loren/Twiggy vibe, using Maybelline’s crayon-like Eye Studio Master Drama Cream Pencil in Sapphire Strength. And really taking the bold liner look to the limit was Anna Sui, where cobalt blue cat eyes were accented by quirky blue dots under the lower lash line. I’ll be trying it with NARS’ new waterproof Eyeliner Stylo in stunning Atlantic blue for a fun fall look that really makes my peepers pop!
