Learn to mix it up with the perfect party cocktail at the Mixology Class at Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel-Air.

Sure, it's impressive to have a one-of-a-kind signature drink to order at a party, but now you can really impress your guests by whipping up your own cocktail creation behind the bar, thanks to the new Mixology Class at Wolfgang Puck in the Hotel Bel-Air.

The cocktail-crafting classes, which start in mid-September, offer a one-on-one lesson with The Bar's Beverage Director and Lead Bartender, who will help you master key techniques like stirring, shaking and garnish cutting, choose ingredients and pick out proper barware. We chatted with The Bar's Beverage Director Tim Wilson about good behind-the-bar form, a Marilyn Monroe-inspired drink and a FOAM-worthy summer cocktail:

What will guests learn at the Mixology Class?
Guests will have fun getting behind the bar and learning how to prepare modern cocktails utilizing a blend of techniques, ingredients and, of course, creativity. This hands-on session gives everyone the chance to interact with the Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel-Air Lead Bartender and Beverage Director as they learn the art of crafting cocktails. Guests will love making cocktails and each person will go home with unique new skills and a favorite new cocktail!

What is The Bar's signature drink?
"Monroe's Passion" is a beautiful mélange of fruit flavors combined with intensity and heat finished with a seductive kick of rum. This cocktail is named in honor of Marilyn Monroe, who was one the Hotel Bel-Air's most famous guests from the classic Hollywood era. This drink is beautiful and seductive - just like Marilyn and the Hotel Bel-Air.

What's the most common cocktail-making technique people get wrong?
The biggest mistake most bartenders make is inaccurately measuring ingredients. Cocktails are all about balance - ingredients must always be measured with a jigger to guarantee consistency and balance.

So what drink can you recommend for a FOAM girl?
The “Tainted Love” is the perfect drink for a beach-loving girl! Ingredients include Tanqueray #10 gin, Campari, St. Germain and lemon juice.
