It takes a lot of guts—and talent—to do a photoshoot from a door-less, shaking helicopter that’s flying at 100 miles-per-hour above huge bodies of water. Gray Malin, the Dallas-native who's caputured LA's imagination by selling his art at the Melrose Fairfax Flea Market, is the genius behind this photo series, Á la Plage (French for "at the beach").

His goal is to shoot in all seven continents, with North America, Central and South America, Australia, and Europe checked off his list already. The idea for the series came to Malin while he was staying on one of the highest floors of a Las Vegas hotel, looking down on the scene of guests enjoying the pool. “As I photographed the scene, I realized it perfectly captured the essence that only exists in the world of pools and beaches—the color and vibrancy, the elements of play and relaxation, and the beauty of water,” Malin tells us. We don't usually "look down" on beach lovers, but in this case, we'll make an exception!
