The August/September 2012 issue...

More than a decade ago, Jaime King left behind the stellar modeling career that launched her stardom to pursue acting. A string of well-received film roles made her more well-known than she'd ever been from runway walks or cover shoots, but she admits she balked when she was first offered the role of perfection-obsessed Southern Belle Lemon Breeland on the CW's Hart of Dixie.

"I sat on it for a few weeks, just thinking about the script and the character," says King.

Committing to a TV schedule that might preclude certain film opportunities wasn't high on her list of priorities, but she found herself captivated with the notion of developing softer and subtler corners of a character that at first blush seemed just a Southern-bred blueblood, a poised and polished foil to clash with the show's lead, an NYC-transplanted, muddling-through young doctor.
