After 12 years working for action sports apparel companies like Volcom, Roxy and Quiksilver, Summer Rapp decided to branch out on her own: "I think the idea for Summer of Seventy Eight had always been in my brain. I didn't have a clear vision, but I knew it was time." Inspired by a year hop-scotching through flea markets in Paris, Australia, Brazil, London and Hawaii, her first-ever women's collection is a study in texture and print—key pieces include a brick-hued tribal maxi skirt, a shiny black jacket with a heavily-studded collar and a patchwork leather pullover harkening back to suede and yarn sweaters of the '70s. "Everything we make has a badass point of view," Summer says of her debut collection, "just like the girls wearing it."
