This weekend marks the third annual Awareness Festival, a four day event showcasing today's environmental and humanitarian issues through film, art and music, presented by Heal One World. Filmmaker Q&A sessions will be peppered between documentaries and narrative features being shown May 3-6, and all net profits will go completely to charity. Here, our "can't miss" films:
Minds in the Water
It's not the first time we've fawned over this film, but for good reason. It's the story of surfer Dave "Rasta" Rastovich's mission to help stop the worldwide slaughter of dolphins and whales.
Miss South Pacific: Beauty and the Sea
All beauty, no brains? Not for the contestants of the Miss South Pacific Pageant. Watch the women give their arguments for climate change and plea for global change to save their island homes.
A free screening of this film takes us from way down south to the slums of Kolkata to find the answer to one simple question: What makes people happy?
Save the Farm
Farms are a rare gem in a crowded city like Los Angeles. Watch a community fighting to save their farm (and a city's fresh food supply) when it's threatened by a developer.
