Hungry? You're about to be.

Hanne Mugaas' "The Art of Food" exhibit opened last Friday at Royal/T in Culver City, showcasing artists who play with their food to create delectable-looking art with a pinch of humor. The exhibit explores a span of media, from Takeshi Murata's digital 3D prints of empty beer cans to Josh Blackwell's embroidered plastic grocery bags.

Mugaas, the show's curator, grew up in a family of gourmet chefs and restaurant owners. "Food has always been present in art," she says, "This exhibit is meant to celebrate food—no matter if it is a gourmet meal, a donut, or a slice of toast with marmalade."
