Surfer Donavon Frankenreiter just announced the impending release of Start Livin', his fifth studio album out through his label Liquid Tambourine Records, on May 29.
"Start Livin' is basically a love album," says Frankenreiter of his nine-track album, recorded with longtime friend Matt Grundy in a Southern California studio over the span of seven days. "At one point we put some beans and salts in a can and shook it around. It was a real fun vibe."
It's that same kitchen jam-session sound that twists through the folk-inspired album, from easy, quiet odes to California to Frankenreiter's weightier tribute to the late Andy Irons in "A.I."
