Laura in action

You’ve got to hand it to Laura Enever. At age 18, the bright and playful teen from North Narrabeen, Sydney, has done more than make her splash in the kiddie pool. In fact, when she's not hanging around with the likes of World Championship surfer Barton Lynch and his upcoming tour hopefuls, she is bringing home some big wins like the 2009 ASP World Junior Champion and 2008 U/18 ISA World Junior Champion titles just to name a few. With that much energy, it’s hard to figure out just how the competitive surf domain can ever pin her down, but seems to just be getting started.

How long have you been surfing?
I started surfing when I was about nine years old and did my first surfing competition when I was ten.

Who are your current sponsors?
My sponsors include Roxy, Nike 6.0, Pull-In Underwear, Chilli Surfboards, FCS, Gorilla, Amazon Power, and Wicks Surf Shop.

You have had an athletic past, which includes being a gymnast for years. What got you interested in surfing and how did you break into the competitive surf arena?
I have always been super active growing up; I did gymnastics for eight years until I fell in love with surfing and couldn't go back! I was hooked, my whole family loved surfing and there was nothing better than being in the ocean everyday surfing with my friends and family. I did my first contest when I was ten and I competed on my Dad’s huge, old surfboard, which I had to carry on my head! But I loved the whole lifestyle and knew it was what I wanted to do forever!

Is there anything you can't leave home without?
I have a box of lucky things I take with me everywhere and anywhere! Also my laptop and my favorite porridge and tea that I’m obsessed with and have for breakfast everyday.

You're one of the youngest female surfers on Team Roxy and you have already accomplished so much. What is next for you?
Right now I’m just going with the flow and working on becoming the best surfer and person I can be. I have experienced so much already but the exciting part is that this is just the beginning. I would love to qualify on to the World Tour but for now I just want enjoy every moment and have a lot of fun along the way...I’m living the dream and I want to make the most of it!
