We're about to enter a season of live music overload. We'll be partying with White Iris/ Black Iris, guest blogging with the bands and checking out four of our favorite acts:
Two cuter kids we haven't seen in this year's crop of new bands. Big Deal uses the old Kills format of guy-girls, Brit-American duo, minus all the fuzz and wailing. —Cristina Black
Thee Oh Sees
Like just about everyone else, we're crazy about the West Coast garage rock scene, and Thee Oh Sees destroy it. With front man John Dwyer rocking a 12-string guitar and a second drummer on the lineup, Thee Oh Sees are only intensifying their knack for the wild and the loud.
Delightfully dreary L.A. band Cold Showers has created much buzz since dropping their Highlands seven-inch on Mexican Summer last year. Their music is a little dark and melancholy, but their onstage energy will leave you feeling alive and well.
Are you ready to get dreamy? Because White Arrows' lo-fi thump will teleport you into a euphoric frenzy. We're talking lights, star projectors, a scenic backdrop, the works...if you need an escape but can't make the show, try the single "Get Gone." It's true to its title.
