What could you do with three seconds?

With World Water Day fast approaching on March 22, the Surfrider Foundation is gearing up with a special contest all about, well, water.

From now until March 13, show your cinematic interpretation of H20 by creating a three-second water-themed film for the "3 Second Movie Contest"—if you win, you'll get a prize package with gear from Teva and GoPro cameras!

"Water is the foundation for all life on the planet," says Matt McClain, Surfrider Foundation's Director of Marketing and Communications, "Sadly, it only takes a few seconds to pollute water, spoiling it for everyone to use and enjoy. We created the 3 Second Movie Contest for World Water Day to celebrate clean water and also raise awareness about water quality issues and how they affect us all."

So why three seconds? Because that's all it takes for about 70 tons of sewage to be discharged into the world's waterways. Every 3 seconds, the world's population also grows by 7 people.

Email your film to for a chance to win.
