YOU AND YOUR BAND, THE LIKE, ARE INTO THIS ‘60S LOOK NOW.

I’ve always been rocking the ‘60s look. They’re going along with it willingly though.

WHAT WAS YOUR ORIGINAL INSPIRATION FOR THAT?

My hair. I’ve only had one haircut my whole life and this is it.

WILL BANGS EVER NOT BE COOL?

Never. My mum’s got the same cut. She’s been told her whole life she looks like Marianne Faithfull. And now I get that, especially in London.

YOU’RE ENGLISH, BUT YOU SPEND MOST OF YOUR TIME IN L.A. WHICH MILIEU SUITS YOU BETTER?

London’s good fun. Proper cities are more fun to get dressed up and wander around in. In L.A., you’re always in the car. Plus, I’m sitting here in a wool dress and it’s 80 degrees!

WE LOVE YOUR SADDLE OXFORDS. ARE THEY GOOD FOR WANDERING?

Yes! They’re really just so practical and comfortable. I can play the drums in them and they don’t slip. Old ladies will turn to me on the train and say, “Oh, I used to wear those in school in the ‘40s!”

WOULD YOU WEAR THIS DRESS TO PLAY DRUMS?

Playing the drums is too difficult in a tighter skirt, so I usually wear loose dresses. This one shows me foraying into the world of tighter clothes!

WHERE DID YOU GET IT?

My favorite vintage shop, Ragg Mopp Vintage, on Sunset in Silver Lake. It’s right by my house, so I tend to go in there quite a lot. I shouldn’t be telling you because everybody’s going to know and there won’t be any dresses left for me!

WE CAN HAVE THE ONES THAT DON’T FIT YOU.

Oh no, because I like to buy them for the other girls in my band. I dress them up like my little dolls.

The Like’s In Release Me is out now on Downtown Records.
