They say it's the thought that counts, but nothing's worse than finding a kitten sweater from Aunt Judy under the tree (unless, you know, you really like cats). That's why we're making our lists and checking them twice– here are the top five gifts everyone on the FOAM staff is hoping for this year.

Kristina Dechter, Editor-in-Chief

1. Holiday Candles
Like most girls, I'm a sucker for expensive candles. These special edition Diptyque holiday candles in Epinette (think pine needles) and Perigone (think spiced wine) pack a lot of olfactory holiday punch.

2. IRO Shearling Jacket
Here’s hoping Santa hit the jackpot: I covet this jacket so bad.

3. Alexander McQueen Skull Cuff Bracelet
I think I’ve emailed this link to about four friends with the idea that this would be a fun take on a friendship bracelet. Hint, hint.

4. Yoga classes from Sibyl Buck and a Luluemon Leotard
Sibyl’s classes have changed my life! She radiates calm and strength and imbues those virtues on you during practice. I’m also obsessed with this Lululemon leotard– so Black Swan!

5. Jonathan Adler Whale Bookends
My new years resolution is to take a ceramics class at Bitteroot Pottery, so these adorable bookends will serve as a reminder to hone my skills! Plus, I love ocean-y tchotchkes.

Cristina Black, Entertainment Editor
1. L.A. Colors Nail Art Set
Glitter and metallics for the holidays! Pastels for spring! Brights for summer! Oh crap, I'm going to do nothing but paint my nails for months...

2. Yukie Deuxpoint Chrysophase Ring
I just know this particular shade of green will take me from holiday cocktails to springtime shindigs with zero friction.

3. Alexander McQueen Pink Velvet Peep Toe Pump
I wear a lot of black (ahem, that's my name), so a bright shoe is key, and this one has a heart-shaped peep toe. I'm in love.

4.Rahua Conditioner
At 5'2", I'll never be an Amazon woman, but it doesn't mean I can't have hair as healthy.

5.Vintage Soprano Banjo-Ukulele Circa 1920
Ukes are like tattoos: Nobody gets just one. This little guy would be my fourth.

Dawn Gregory, Assistant Editor
1. Russian Red Lipstick by MAC
As an avid wearer of red lipstick, this is by far the best shade I've come across.

2. Red Tea Kettle
I drink tea day and night, night and day. This kettle will go perfectly in my kitchen and I'll feel like a domestic lady.

3. House of Harlow 1960 Sunglasses
These oversized House of Harlow glasses make it easy to stay low key and look chic at the same time.

4. Dr. Martens BROOK Shoes
Even though I've always been more of the Original 10 Hole Dr. Marten type girl, I've been obsessing over the Brook low top docks. The only issue? Deciding what color I want!

5. High Waisted Black Cheap Mondays
I have gone through three pairs of these pants over the years. They are my absolute favorites!

Johnie Gall, Senior Editor
1. Cynthia Rowley Long Sleeved Colorblock Wetsuit
I fit right in with the guys in the lineup...meaning I look like one with my big black suit (the name doesn't help either). This suit would definitely change that.

2. FACE IT Sunglasses
We used to share an office with Alexandra Cassaniti and I'd see her walk in with these babies on everyday. Eye-catching, huh?

3. Field Notes for J. Crew 3-Pack
I write everything down– I can fill up a notebook a day, so these are stashed everywhere in my apartment.

4. Pendleton National Park Collection Blanket
My mom used to have a blanket like this when I was younger and I loved cuddling up in it, but I can't find it so I'll have to get my own. Oh, and I want to visit every National Park in the country by 30 so this could keep me warm when I'm camping out.

5. A Banjo
I love blue grass music and have this fantasy where I start a jug band with my boyfriend and his friends. I'd hand paint this guy and play my heart out.

Gigi Kalika Jack, Art Director
1. Bow Hunting Cuff from Dream Collective
I love the texture and weight of this bracelet. It works with anything.

2. Ballet Russes from Assouline
I find the sets, costumes and design (not to mention the dancing) from the Ballets Russes endlessly inspiring. This book puts it all in one place.

3. Brass Pencil Holder
I'm a sucker for anything brass, plus keeping colored pencils organized in something so pretty appeals to my OCD side.

4. Foldover Clutch by Clare Vivier
I love this color! especially with the little bit of red peeking through.

5. Bolivian Hammock
What could be better than cozying up in this hammock? Perfect hanging in my dream garden or in the middle of my (alternate) dream loft.

Zinzi Edmundson, Features Editor
1. Kenton Sorensen iPad portfolio
Scandinavian simplicity to cloak Cupertino minimalism. I think they make a nice pair.

2. Zora Swim Dress by Normal Kamali
Ignore the confused stares; you look awesome.

3. Faux/Real Desktop Vanity
Perhaps this Flintstones-esque mirror holds the key to Betty and Jane's babe-like ways?

4. FlyKy Vintage Electric Scooter
All the cool points of a moped style scooter with none of the gas.

5. KNOT Basket by Shigeki Fujishiro
I like things to be organized, but not that organized. If you know what I mean.

Angelica Bonomo, Fashion Assistant
1. Black 1460 Doc Martins
I can totally see Angela from My So Called Life rocking these with a floral dress or jeans and a flannel.

2. Record Player
The fact you can play your iPod on it is such a bonus!

3. George Harrison: Living in the Material World
I'm a huge Beatles fan, and this has an amazing collection of new photos I've never seen before.

4. Unif Shoes
These are just so rad! The spikes add some serious coolness to your basic slip-on shoes.

5. Holga x Pendleton 35mm Camera Kit
I love the look of Holga photos and I'm obsessed with Pendleton's prints. For me, this is the perfect marriage.

Sarah Hardt, Intern
1. Tartan Wool Poncho
No winter wardrobe is complete without a little tartan.

2. Organic Coil Bracelet
With wooden jewelry being my new obsession, Gustav Reyes is a man after my own heart.

3. Clip-on Reading Light for Kindle
My Kindle is my new best friend and I need her with me both day and night!

4. Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has To Travel
This book is bound to be inspiration city from one of the original fashion "it" girls.

5. Woolly Chevron Fingerless Gloves
I see little beauties like these and shed a tear for their impracticality for Southern California living.

Azita Rasoli, Art Assistant
1. Classic Blouse
A Peter Pan collar keeps thing feminine if you're wearing a big coat over it this winter.

2. GingerDead Men Cookie Cutters
I love anything to do with skeletons so this much needed bit of darkness for the holidays season is perfect for me.

3. Bottle Opener Ring
Who wouldn't want an accessory that's functional and affordable?

4. Dolce Vita T-Strap Platform Heel
Chunky heel, platforms, and suede? I'm sold. The wine color is perfect for the holidays too.

5. Charmaine Olivia Limited Edition Print
Simple silhouttes with a little edge kicked in adds some character to any room you hang it up in. I have another one of her prints and this one would pair nicely in my room.

Virginia Ibarra, Intern
1. The Picture of Dorian Gray
One of the best written books...ever. I always get my favorite books in hardcopy. Art should always be preserved.

2. Timo Handmade Princess with a Mustard Yellow Crown
My sister actually got mad at me because I told her that I wanted pillows for Christmas...but this little princess is too cute!

3. Cast of Vices Corner Store leather Tote
I actually saw this tote while looking through the lookbook I called in from Cast of Vices. I immediately went a little coo-coo for it! I mean, the design is fun– it's a pun on plastic bags!

4. Blackbird Fly 35mm Twin Lens Camera
I just love the vintage effect on photos, there is no need to worry about editing and that makes photography much more fun! Plus, I'll be visiting Portland soon and wouldn't want to whip out my DSLR all the time!

5. Paddywax Fragrance Diffuser in Limoncello
I actually had this a while back, but my friend fell one day and it knocked over, spilling the remainder of it. It smelled so clean and yummy, I actually miss it. She said she would buy me another one yet hasn't done so...this is a hint!

Jody Schmauss,
1. Jaco Striped Lapel Wool Blend Blazer
A slight twist on this jacket makes it so cute and versatile.

2. Canon EOS 60D
I've always wanted to get into photography and this model doesn't intimidate me too much.

3. Jude Leopard Print Calf Hair Pumps
I don't want these– I need these!

4. Design Sponge at Home
I’ve been waiting for this book and I hope Santa brings it!

5. Orange Blossom and Jasmine Body Butter
This body butter smells like vacation and makes your skin amazing.
