Dawes greeted us with a warm welcome; the band was ending their six week tour with Blitzen Trapper and Belle Brigade in the city they call home. Los Angeles.
Dawes' music is simple. Romantic and soulful lyrics, harmonies that instantly make you sway back and forth; mixed in with that classic laurel canyon rock sound. How can you not like them? I often refer to them as "road trip music"...it's super good to listen to if you are in fact on a road trip or even if you decided to take the long way home. Their sound is something that I feel everyone can get into and appreciate.
The show did not disappoint. The crowd went wild, and sang the chorus for the band during "When My Time Comes", and the boys brought members of Blitzen Trapper and Belle Brigade up on stage for a couple of songs and ended with an encore that included Ben Tench from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers...amazing! I am so happy my friend Casen who came with me was able to get these great photos from the show. Did I mention that the members of Dawes are easy on the eye?
The show was excellent, and I highly recommend checking them out.
