This Sunday marked the first official day of Summer, and what better way to celebrate it then with what the French call Fete de la Musique, a yearly event where people play music throughout the streets of Paris. The “fete” starts in the afternoon where one can find an array of amateur and professional musicians alike playing anything from bagpipes, guitars, to spinning turntables. Cover bands awake the ghost of Johnny Cash and young indie bands create a buzz in the hip Parisian neighborhoods. The event eventually goes into the late of night where all of Paris walks and dances the streets and just celebrates the music. It’s an event that can’t be avoided when living in Paris as it sweeps up the whole city with a variation of musical genres.
