Good Apple
At twenty years old, Gabby Applegate is a designer to watch. After two years at the helm of a basics line called Witches, she’s now set to release a full range of women’s wear on her new eponymous label. Witchy is an apt descriptor of Applegate’s inspired style: her dark, draping ponchos and black lace accents seem to recall a young Stevie Nicks, and one piece even features a coven-worthy pointed hood. Which is no wonder, as she counts broody couture designers Ann Demeulemeester and Gareth Pugh as influences. How did someone not yet of drinking age mastermind such a mood-driven collection? Applegate started early. Explains the designer, “I have always been into clothing and fashion. I remember walking around in my mom’s Louboutins when I was three.”
