Holiday Beauty in a Flash

Sometimes the holidays are less about cookies and brown paper packages and more about crammed schedules. So, we called upon our makeup guru, Smashbox’s Lead Artist Lori Taylor, to help us with a super simple and totally killer—holiday look.

First, Taylor created an easy-as-pie day look on our already-gorgeous intern, Virginia. To start, she blended foundation using a blending sponge, which she said is “is the key to getting your foundation to actually look like skin.”

Our favorite trick of the day? Taylor uses a wide, thin brush (Cream Eyeliner Brush #9) to work the cream liner between the lash line and crease. The effect is a subtly smoky look that doesn’t look too made up.

To finish up the eye, Taylor added some soft gold cream liner to the inner lower eyelid for an added punch.

She kept Virginia’s cheeks nude (“so people don’t think you’re wearing all your makeup at once!”), but went for a punchy berry lipgloss for some added fa-la-la.

Taylor used Smashbox’s new Holiday Flash collection to really pump up Virginia’s look and get her carol singing-ready in no time. First, Taylor drew a thick line on Virginia's top lid using Smashbox’s Holiday Flash gold liquid liner.

Then, she added a thinner line of metallic black liquid liner closer to the lash to really make the gold liner pop.

She finished up by applying sheer gold eye shadow to the inner lid and gray metallic shadow to the outer—both from the Holiday Flash shadow palette.

Party-ready with only three products? Now that’s something we wouldn’t mind raising a glass to.
