When you add a lace top under your tank or tee, you’re actually covering additional skin—and yet that peek of lace can elicit a reaction usually reserved for skimpier fare. Don’t break your brain trying figure that one out. Just remember the shorthand: lace is the perfect layering piece to dress up (and warm up) your sleeveless sweater, denim vest, or bustier this fall, or to have peeking out from beneath your fitted leather jacket. We love it under a chunky necklace or paired with a feather headband, or scrunched down at the wrist under a vintage Casio. But if you find you’re turning more heads wearing lace than you did in a tank top alone, don’t bother asking: we don’t understand it either.
