TODAY WE’RE OBSESSED WITH…
The artwork of Audrey Kawasaki
It’s breathtaking. Seriously. She paints on wood, first laying down a precise, graphic pencil drawing (which probably takes a lot of time, erasers and energy) and then layers on thin washes of oil paint. Her subjects are usually adorable, creepy, beautiful, compelling, erotic and innocent young ladies. Apparently she takes cue from manga comics and Art Nouveau. The result is completely unique and we love it. You should read her blog or check out her paintings for yourself—we swear it’ll give you butterflies.
Wow! Thanks for introducing me to this artist. I love the surreal and romantic yet dark elements. I’m definitely planning on looking into a purchase.
Thanks and keep up the insightful reviews!
